Motorola has not been as prolific as its peers. The last one we reviewed was Motozine ZN5 centuries ago. Is Motorola still at the top of his game? A 5MP camera; CrystalTalk technology that reduces noise and makes each conversation crystal clear and the title of being the first Motorola phone to incorporate Widgets for instant access to news, weather or any updates that you are interested. The comeback MOTO VE66 sounds pretty solid, doesn’t it?

In the package, we find a MOTO VE66 phone, a battery, a charger, a USB cable, a stereo handsfree and a user’s guide.

MOTO VE66 is very pocket-friendly. It is only 103 x 49.5 x 15.2 mm and weighs 121g. It is light, slim and tiny. If you are a fan of more heft build and widescreen, it may not be your ideal design.

I know you are familiar with the panel of keys. One thing that VE66 brings to the table is its “scrollable” D-pad that you can roll clockwise and anticlockwise for smooth navigation. (Working just like your Ipod if you prefer a less verbose explanation) But it sometimes goes a little too smoothly that I find it hard to land on my destination. I would just press it like the traditional D-pad.

The keys are very intuitive and clearly separated. No trouble for single hand operation even though they are a bit small.

It has a USB outlet for quick data transfer.

On the right ridge lays the shutter key and hold key.
There is an internal memory of 110MB, but it can be expanded up to 32GB by MicroSD card. But guess what, you have to remove the battery cover to find the slot. YUCKS!

The back has done the phone some justice. I love the simple design. It looks modern and expensive. Motorola does mean it for the camera: 5MP, auto focus, LED Flash, 8X zoom, image stabilization and QVGA video recording. Not satisfied? It’s the best that Motorola can do for now.

The menu has a spotlight effect which looks pretty good and neat.

Oh yes, it has WiFi to keep you connected at hotspots, which is a nice surprise, I would say.

Looking through the MOTO VE66, I think it is a conservative attempt by Motorola. It has a nice compact phone with standard features. The call quality is excellent with CrystalTalk. It is solid, but is solid enough for the demanding customers nowadays
